The new regulation on the ban on smoking on the premises of the University of Messina was approved in December 2021. The use of electronic cigarettes is also regulated to protect the health of staff, students and all visitors and to protect them from serious damage deriving from exposure to tobacco smoke and the vapors produced. The provisions of the regulation apply to university buildings used for any reason and are extended to spaces for the exclusive use of university structures housed in other institutions. Those affected include teaching staff, technical-administrative and library staff, students, the general public, as well as anyone else who visits university buildings or spaces for any reason.
